Club Tech - I've written about the Club Tech program before. It's a technology program run by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America with sponsorship help from Microsoft and other partners. Recently the Clubs held the National Digital Arts Festival , an annual competition among Boys & Girls Club members in the core design categories. The competition gives youth much-needed positive reinforcement, and the impetus to take their creative expression and their computer skills to a higher level, potentially even inspiring a new career. Read about it here.
The School of the Future in Philadelphia continues to make news even as it prepares for its second year of operation. The School of the Future was built completely with local money and is run by the public school system in Philadelphia. Microsoft was heavily involved in the design of the school from top to bottom but did not contribute money or hardware. The idea was to create a school that could be replicated without bug corporate or other external funding. As you can read about here expansion of this project is anticipated to many other places.
