Looking for web based bug/defect tracking software.....

And I'm having a hard time finding one I like. I am interested in what you folks have used for web based bug tracking software...? Please give us all some good links, etc. in my comments section as I'm sure others are interested in this as well.

I'd like something that is written with .NET and is extendable but I'd take just about anything that looks good and works well. I only have about $500-600 dollars to spend so keep that in mind.

    Check out a tool called "OnTime" from MCPCentral.com. We currently only have a Windows version of this product, however, we're working on a web version as I write this. Additionally, there is a great SOAP Based Web Services SDK available for OnTime that allows you to extend the defect tracking capabilities and incorporate defect tracking features into your own products. There is a free 30-day trial at http://www.mcpcentral.com. Pricing is also very reasonable (well within your budget :)

    I had a hard time myself so I ended up writing one using ASP.NET/SQL2K. I'm planning on releasing the code shortly so the price is right. I'm not officially pushing it as a product so there's no documentation, but feel free to try it out and see if does anything for you.

    I had been using OnTime" from MCPCentral.com for a little while. I think at one time it was free (for < 10 users), but it looks like that licence has gone away. This was quite nice and pretty simple to use. Not sure if it is/was extendable.

    I am actually interested in something like this as well for both work and here on the blogs (I would like an easy way for people to post bugs once I am a little for feature complete).

    looks very nice and has most all of what we need I believe. If you were to offer a version that included source, I'd probably pay $500 for it.

    Yeah, we looked at FogBugz and it looks ok. It appears that most of the other products copy all of the content in FogBugz and just give it a skin. We may go with FogBugz but we really want something written in .NET that either exposes an API we can use or provides the source.

    Alex, no-one has mentioned TestTrack? That's what we use here at work for our teams across the world to share. works well. i'm on the road so dont know the URL, but I'm sure you can find it.

    I ended up rolling my own as well, partially for lack of budget and partially so I wouldn't end up pulling my hair out integrating some other package with our page templates and custom ASP.NET authentication layer.

    Kudos to the Codebehind guy, his tool is functional and the design looks pretty good for a pre-1.0 interface. I would recommend some "category" field to group bugs in some logical fashion (multi-value), and some way to filter (rather than sort) bugs by specific users (i.e., not just "my bugs").

    Well what do you know, I have been looking for another thing to do in my spare time, I have been working on a few API for various application sets, why not add defect/feature tracking as well...
