Security best practices for Azure - whitepaper available

A new whitepaper titled Security Best Practices for Developing Windows Azure Applications is now available.

What's significant here is, as we discussed in the Rise of Federation postings (1)(2) , is that leveraging claims-based identity is now considered a best practice for developing nearly any sort of application. If you want to keep your options open, and avoid future rewrites if your authentication/authorization platform changes, then using claims-based identity concepts is an extremely good idea.   Additional information on Microsoft's offerings in this area (ADFS V2, Windows Identity Foundation) is also available here.
