In Rotura for a couple of days

I'm in Rotorua today and tomorrow spending time in at a tertiary IT conference as well as speaking to students and faculty at a Technology Institute as well.

Today I attended the first day of the IT conference which was interesting. I got to meet some interesting people and chat about our technology as well as look at some of the other technology on display. Perhaps the most memorable was the Canon whiteboard that actually doubled as a rear projection screen as well. The really nice thing about this was that the screen was a touch screen - you could click buttons (huge ones) with your finger and write on the board and record notes. At $20-30k, I don't expect one will be appearing any where near my house at any time in the near future, but it was a nice idea ;-)

After the day, Paul and I went for a run (a short one) before getting ready to go out for dinner. TelstraClear put on dinner for all the attendees at the conference. The venue was the skyline Gondolas and Luge - we got tickets to ride the Luge for an hour, so Paul and I managed to get four rides in during that time (what fun!).

Following that was a decent buffet dinner, which was supplemented by a talk (or rather recounting of cricket tour shenanigans) by Danny Morrison.

It was cold. Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries so I dont have lots of photos...

And now I'm preparing my presentations for tomorrow (there are not enough hours in the day).
