ISV Innovation Day on Windows Server "Longhorn", Visual Studio "Orcas" and SQL BI

Next Tuesday - April 24 - our Belgian ISV team is organizing an Innovation Day on the next generation of our development platform. A extract from the invite:

A top-class development platform is not only a set of excellent development tools, it’s also the underlying infrastructure platform and the ability to integrate all that technology that can make a difference. In that way, an ISV or custom developer can guarantee to his customers that their high quality applications are running in the perfect ecosystem, enabling the end- user to make full use of all the features in an optimized way.

In the light of this vision, we would like to invite you for the ISV and Developers Innovation Day, taking place on Tuesday April 24th in the ‘Crowne Plaza hotel’, Diegem.

This is what the agenda for this Innovation Day will look like:

12.00 – 13.30: Welcome and light Lunch

13.30 – 14.30: SQL Server and BI ( Business Intelligence ) - A session delivered by Luc Van de Velde on the value of our BI platform

14.30 – 15.30: A first look at Visual Studio “Orcas” & .NET Framework 3.5

15.30 – 15.45: Coffee-break

15.45 – 16.45: Windows Server “Longhorn” Development - A session delivered by Wilfried Jansoone from Guidance

17.00 - 18.00: Innovation Day community drink

I'll be delivering the session "A first look at Visual Studio “Orcas” and .NET Framework 3.5"

Visual Studio, codenamed “Orcas” will provide capabilities for building compelling applications that target Windows Vista and the 2007 Office System, and for creating the next generation of Web applications. In this session we’ll take a look at the improved support in Visual Studio “Orcas” for multi-framework development, the new set of visual designers, building and consuming WCF services, several innovative new technologies around data access (LINQ) and many smaller improvements as well. Finally we highlight how Visual Studio codenamed "Orcas" enhances the end-to-end value of Visual Studio 2005 Team System by increasing its role-based coverage and delivering enhanced traceability throughout the software development lifecycle.
