Windows 7 Beta

Hi all,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but I have been experiencing some alias issues, but it’s all good now :).

You may have noticed that the beta for windows 7 is available from msdn subscriber downloads, and so far (from my experience) it’s pretty good… I installed it on an old toshiba m400 and I was surprised at how fast it appears and how much life it has just on battery power.

Firstly a pointer of where to get more info:

and secondly some of the features (some also extended from vista) which you may not know about:

- note that if you want to get the globalized wallpapers “C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT” is a hidden folder (I recommend showing hidden folders and showing extensions for known file types – in windows explorer: Tools –> Folder Options –> View tab –> “show hidden files and folders” radio button and untick “Hide extensions for known file types”)

I particularly like the Desktop Peek (Win+Space) as previously in vista it would bring gadgets to the front (and still not many people knew about it) but that along with the Aero Shake makes the desktop a lot easier to access.

The new task bar (or “superbar”) takes some getting used to, but I like the ability to move orders of running programs and even in the notification area just by dragging them.

Side note:- The calculator has been upgraded and there is a new maths input panel for your complicated math homework :)

All I need now is a multitouch input device to play with some more funky features.
