Visual Studio 2014 CTP and the $119 Windows 8.1 Toshiba computer

For some reason I got motivated to try the least Windows 8.1 computer available, which as far as I can tell is the Windows 8.1 Toshiba Computer which you can buy at the Windows Store for $119, unless you are a student then you can buy it for $107, free shipping.  Not that I recommend that, the $119 computer is a 1 Gigabyte Ram, 16 Gigabyte SSD, so there is little room for you apps and other things.  II does come with a one year license to Office, but seriously you are not putting office directly on this system, there is no room on the C:\ drive.

But since I have an Azure account, I thought, well, I am going to go all in the cloud.  So I will be using the Toshiba Encore Mini WT7-C16MS Signature Edition Tablet as a test platform for my inexpensive IOT products.  Of course the phone would work just as well, but I like the bigger screen and this device is likely a good reader device with good deployment features.

You will likely want to add a MicroSD to the system to add storage.  If you are used to using Office365 Online or Azure, then you can get away with 32 Gigabytes.  Battery is slow to charge, and the video resolution is a bit odd.  Keep your expectations low or use it for testing a minimum Windows 8 configuration.

I would not recommend that you have this as your only computer.  But if you are going to use it for viewing videos, use Office 365, IOT, or showing photos
