In Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 we have introduced a new database project type to support SQL Server Data-tier Applications (DAC). For detailed information on what DACs are please search for information available on SQL’s Books On Line (BOL). I suggest using the search string “SQL Server 2008 R2 SQL Data-tier Application.” As new releases of SQL Server 2008 R2 are made available additional information will be published by the SQL Server team.

IMPORTANT: This is brand new technology from the Visual Studio and SQL teams. In order to deploy a DAC project you will need to target the forthcoming SQL Server 2008 R2 November Customer Technology Preview.
