Here is a fantastic article on how to make the Content Query Web Part nicely display links.  Everyone who has used this part is usually puzzled when it displays the (none) link for any list with links.  This article discusses the method to create a new style for the list so that it can be displayed correctly by editing the ItemStyle.xsl.
