As reported in this Yahoo article, MovieBeam has developed a HD delivery service that looks to be a little ahead of the times in terms of HD movie delivery. This looks to potentially be a decent delivery mechanism for content and really brings to everyone's attention the point that Bill Gates (and now Peter Moore) made when they were discussing the DVD and Blu-ray format wars: the future of content delivery is not these hi definition formats but a streaming format delivered over the Internet and protected by DRM.
As ahead of the technology trend as it is, I think that MovieBeam will only be a placeholder for HD movies until the first batch of HD players and HD streamers come. For starters, MovieBeam's service looks a little shady from what I've seen on their Web site. They require a phone line for billing? You have to buy a player that sits near your tv. It turns me away from wanting it. Anyways it is the concept that is very forward thinking; I belive more and more that the next format war is not one between HD-DVD and Blu-ray but one on DRM and content delivery.
