Oh, Xbox360...

I hardly knew ye.

This crashing stuff just started happening suddenly last night, and was eventually followed by the red rings of doom. Crashing happens after a few minutes in some games, sometimes happens while the Xbox is starting up, sometimes happens while the system is idle... I powered it down for about 15 minutes and tried again thinking maybe it was a heat issue, but no such luck.

Also, apologies for the poor image quality. The only camera I had laying around was my phone. But you get the point.

I'm supposed to be getting a box from customer support to ship my unit in for repairs within the next 5 business days. After the box gets mailed back out, it'll be around 8 business days before I have a new box in hand. That's 13 business days, or roughly two and a half weeks. That puts all of those new releases handily outside of my reach for Thanksgiving weekend, so not much gaming to be had for me :)

This, of course, gives my rivals plenty of time to usurp my fictitious top gamerscore throne. Hurray!

EDIT: I'm now behind in the building 6 leaderboards by about 1000. Sniffle! Also, I checked out 360voice's entry for my console and saw this little gem:

Ferong's Xbox - 11/17/2006

Well, I didn't get to game yesterday, but at least I am not sitting in a Microsoft repair shop... So that is something...

Cute! Though it actually isn't in a Microsoft repair shop yet; I'm anxiously awaiting receipt of the Xbox box so I can ship the console back.

I feel your pain. I had the exact same thing happen to my 360 last saturday. No Gears of War for Thanksgiving. :(

Sorry to hear! The good news is I had a launch unit, so it was still covered by warranty. I opted out of the replacement plan deal when I bought it, so this could have cost me a reasonable chunk of change. So it could have been worse than not having a console around during the long holiday weekend :) I guess I'll be picking up Guitar Hero 2 to tide me over. Dethklok + Trogdor is a winning combination for a track list.
