Windows Phone 7 Series developer story unveiled!

Scott Guthrie today unveiled the much anticipated Windows Phone 7 developer story at MIX10 conference keynote this morning. Windows Phone 7 applications can be built with two technologies: XNA and Silverlight. XNA helps with the rich interactive graphics (supports hardware accelerated 2D and 3D graphics) UX while Silverlight allows rich UX and data driven applications.

Scott announced the availability of the following:

  • Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone
  • Windows Phone Emulator
  • Silverlight for Windows Phone
  • XNA 4.0 Game Studio

The download links for the above can be found at https://developer.windowsphone.com/windows-phone-7-series/.

Windows Phone 7 CTP tools can also be installed on VS 2010 RC if you plans to deploy VS 2010 version other than Express. The release notes for the CTP outlines the supported platforms and installation instructions.
