Women in Technology we need Help

I know that is a bit of a dramatic tag line. But where I am coming from is that I feel there is a real need to encourage more girls to choose technology as a career of choice. I have always been a lucky person in the sense that I have never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome or discriminated against because I was working in an Industry which is Male dominated. It simply has NEVER been an issue for me. I have just got on with it. However I know that is not the experience of all my female colleagues who I have worked with over the years. So I feel lucky that I work for a Company that positively encourages flexible working and is looking for better ways to encourage girls into the Industry plus also encourage more Women to consider Microsoft as a Career. So if you are thinking of a job move I encourage you to check out our Careers Page. Certainly within my division we are looking for great technical people to join our team regardless of gender. Also any girls reading this or Mums and Dads who have girls choosing exam . Please encourage them to think about a career in I.T. It is a great career, fulfilling and never dull. Plus also the perception that we are "geek's" or "geekettes" whatever name you choose to use is completely wrong. I certainly enjoy sitting down with a glass of wine looking through Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Red or Hello magazine. But on the other hand I also enjoy getting deep and technical around a particularly gritty issue I am tackling or studying.

Check out the following website for more information around Women working in technology, plus also of course the Excellent Girly Geek Dinners.
