Updates to System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 Resource Kit released to the Web

Our Mobile Device Manager team is doing a great job released tools for MDM, they have just released an update to the Resource Kit for System Center Mobile Device Manager.  Phase 2 is a cumulative release, Besides phase 1 tools it includes tools like Reporting Services, and Managed Device Status Viewer which is a new troubleshooting tool that enables users of Windows Mobile 6.1 managed devices to browse through device synchronization information, a list of all managed programs installed on the device, and the values of management objects that are configured by MDM Device Management Server.

This release adds 10 new tools and expands the portfolio of tools to 19 in total. It is available for download as a set of 5 packages from the Tech Center. Details of each package is given below:

MDM Client Tools

MDM Client Tools provides tools to help administrators troubleshoot connections and monitor device synchronization for Windows Mobile devices as part of an MDM system.

MDM Best Practices Analyzer Tool

MDM Best Practices Analyzer helps analyze an environment to determine if the prerequisites are met for MDM deployment. It also recommends best practices based on environment configuration. In addition, you can use the tool to help make sure you have configured firewall options to allow MDM Device Management Server and MDM Gateway Server to work together.

MDM Self Service Portal

A Web-based interface that you use to manage their Windows Mobile devices. On this portal, based on settings that you configure, users can enroll their Windows Mobile devices, monitor enrollment status, and wipe managed devices.
