AWS vs. Azure Compute Performance Comparison

Hi, Compute performance is not my major concern. But, I have to do this as my AWS customer needs this information to migrate from AWS to Azure.

So, I did the test below with my colleague.

The image I used at AWS is Ubuntu 14.04 HVM. and GeekBench 3.3.2. and the VMs were deployed in Oregon Region.

As always mentioned, this performance score doesn't mean that your workload could have get as the workload performances are functions of complex variables such as CPU, memory, disk, and network etc.

You could get an idea that the same vCPU doesn't mean that it could yield the similar performances from compute performance perspectives.

Click the graph below to see more clearly.

AWS VM Geekbench Score. As you know, t-type VM's characteristic is very different. It performs well with Credit, but, it perfomrs the worst.

You may have to be very cautious when you choose AWS t-type machines in Production as it doesn't guarantee the consistent performance.

And Azure charges per minute agaisnt AWS's per hour charge. So, if you want short-time performances, Azure would be fit for you. :)
