Multi Monitor, Productivity Boost… or not?

I’ve always thought that having multiple monitors at work (and now at home thanks to Win7 Remote Desktop) boosted my productivity but I’ve realized that it is not always the case. Why? I’m, just like pretty much everyone else on the planet, very impatient; the moment applications take more than just a couple of seconds to respond I switch to yet another task. You can argue that the same is true for single monitors but having multiple, well, multiplies the problem he he. The root cause is obviously not the number of monitors but the fact that I have so many parallel projects going on and that I’m hard wired to get bored when working on the same issue for a long period of time… this is probably what the “new busy” is really all about ;)

My primary monitor is where I do my primary task (coding/answerring emails etc.), and my second monitor is where I throw/place things which I need to glance at occasionally.

Without a doubt. Productivity boost. So much more can be done with multi monitors.
