You can do this via OMA (Outlook Mobile Access), but this little app is much easier.

Microsoft Global Contact Access is a free power toy for Windows Mobile devices which enables customers to look up contacts in the Global Address List (GAL) and check co-worker schedules on their Exchange server. Global Contact Access is available now for employees and external customers at the Windows Mobile download site: https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/global/default.mspx.

Global Contact Access can be installed on any device running Windows Mobile 2003 or 5.0. It is designed to work with Exchange Server 2003, and requires users to have access their Exchange accounts via Outlook Web Access. The download website also includes a FAQ with more information about system requirements and functionality.
