Open XML Translator announced

Microsoft announced the Open XML Translator project yesterday as detailed in Brian Jones' blog post. It will be an open-source project to create a translation layer between the Office Open XML and OpenDocument formats. This comes in line with a few other open-interop initiatives by Microsoft in both Vista and Office, like the PDF, XPS, and ODF support in the upcoming Office 2007 release. The fact that's it's going to be hosted in the SourceForge CSV is very cool, and shows that a company as large and with as many entrenched products as we have can still work collaboratively with the open source community to help make great software.
