New hire into our group - James Whittaker

I’m pleased to announce, actually I’m *thrilled* to announce, that James Whittaker has joined our group. James is a well-known author and speaker on software testing and security. He most recently worked as a professor of computer science at Florida Tech where he ran a huge software security research team. James created the “How to Break…” book series with Addison Wesley. He wrote How to Break Software, How to Break Software Security and How to Break Web Software.

He’s also one of the folks behind the Holodeck testing tool.

He’s a cool guy, sharp as a tack, with a very dry sense of humor, so we should get along just fine! He’ll be a peer of mine, reporting to Steve Lipner, and is initially focused on our internal security and privacy training.

As I'm sure most of you will agree, hiring good security people takes time, and hiring talent like James is rare indeed.

Welcome, James!

As an old ex-collegue and friend of James, congratulations to both him, and Microsoft for signing him on.

If there's one person I know out there that can train developers/testers and keep it funny and enjoyable, it's James :)

The very best of luck guys.

I had the opportunity to listen to James' keynote speech at the StarEast 2006 Software Testing Conference in Florida. He is an awesome public speaker, in addition to his testing talent. Microsoft is lucky to have him. Welcome to Washington, James.
