Update on Office 2003/Office XP Plans

First, thank you all for your patience as we ironed out the details with Office 2003 and Office XP. I know that many of you have had questions concerning my earlier blog post and I’ve been hesitant to respond to each and every one as some of our plans have literally been in flux up until today.

The good news? MSDN Subscriptions will be able to continue to offer Office 2003 and Office XP on MSDN Subscriber Downloads for the foreseeable future. However, we will be making some minor changes due to ongoing litigation. So, while the basic experience will remain the same and you will still be able to download and use many of your favorite Office 2003 and Office XP applications as you always have, you may need to obtain new product keys for use with these downloads.

For most products, the product keys you may have received earlier will continue to work as is. For some, you may notice that your product key no longer works for the Office 2003 or Office XP edition you’re installing. In those (rare) cases, please review the download instructions for the product downloaded for additional information on how to proceed (e.g. please obtain a new product key). Finally, you might notice the temporary absence of a product or product key from MSDN Subscriber Downloads as we make this final transition and anticipate completing all activities within 1-2 weeks.

Thanks again for your patience. After considerable effort, we’re pleased to be able to continue to offer a full range of Office 2003 and Office XP products to MSDN subscribers.

Best regards,

Seth Adams
