Microsoft Developer Webcasts This Week: SQL, ADO, SharePoint and Silverlight, Windows Embedded

This week’s Microsoft’s Developer Webcasts include: SQL Server Spatial Features, ADO Synchronization Services, software dependencies, SharePoint and Silverlight and Windows Embedded.

MSDN Webcast: 24 Hours of SQL Server 2008: Map Your Data with SQL Server Spatial Features (Level 100)

Join us to learn how to use spatial data types within SQL Server to create these mapping features using Microsoft Virtual Earth. Presenter : John Pelak

3/24/2008 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Pacific Time (US & Canada)| Duration: 90 Minutes

MSDN Webcast: geekSpeak: Tame Your Software Dependencies with James Kovacs (Level 200)

In this installment of geekSpeak, James Kovacs explains the concept of software dependencies and helps us understand dependency injection and inversion of control containers. James is passionate about helping developers create flexible software using test-driven development (TDD), unit testing, object-relational mapping, dependency injection, refactoring, continuous integration, and related techniques. He is a founding member of the Plumbers @ Work podcast, which is syndicated by MSDN Canada Community Radio. You can view his article, "Loosen Up: Tame Software Dependencies for More Flexible Apps", in the March 2008 issue of MSDN Magazine.

MSDN Webcast: SharePoint Server 2007 and Silverlight (Level 100)

A rich user experience is getting easier to create with the release of Microsoft Silverlight. In this session, we show how Silverlight takes advantage of XAML and provides an easy way to build compelling user interfaces. We demonstrate using the 1.0 version of Silverlight, as well as what's new in 2.0 that enables the developer and designer to collaborate to build exciting new applications. Presenter:Mike Benkovich

3/27/2008 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Pacific Time | Duration:60 Minutes

MSDN Webcast: ADO Synchronization Services (Level 100)

Microsoft Synchronization Services for ADO.NET makes building applications for occasionally connected environments a logical extension of building applications where you can count on a consistent network. Rather than simply replicating a database and its schema, the Synchronization Services application programming interface (API) provides a set of components to synchronize data between data services and a local store. Applications are increasingly used on mobile clients, such as laptops and devices, that do not have a consistent or reliable network connection to a central server. It is crucial for these applications to work against a local copy of data on the client. Join us for this session as we introduce Synchronization Services and how you can build applications that use the services. Presenter : Marc Schweigert

MSDN Webcast: Demonstrating Web Services on Devices API with Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 (Level 100)

DPWS, WSDAPI, WECEDAAA, CE… What are all these acronyms? Join us to find out! In this webcast, one of our Windows Embedded Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), Randy Moore, provides a background on Devices Profile for Web Services and the implementation in Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2, Web Services on Devices API. Randy discusses the components related to Web Services on Devices API and explores operating system design concepts, in addition to client application concepts. Experience a demonstration that focuses on understanding this Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 feature from a developers perspective. Finally, we wrap up the presentation with a discussion of security and a review of the steps for building a device supporting Devices Profile for Web Services based on Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2. Oh yes, and you will find out what all those acronyms are!
