Many facets of India’s first Openness Days

Recently Microsoft in India hosted India’s first Microsoft Conference, Openness Days 2016, showcasing the opportunities in fusing Microsoft and Open Source technologies. The event combined a traditional MVP Day (formerly MVP Open Day) followed by an augural hackathon event on Open Source technologies. Hosted on Microsoft Azure in collaboration with the State Government, the Open Hack included a full-day conference showcasing the potential of Microsoft Azure and possibilities for Open Source developers.

More than 600 developers including MVPs, community leaders, user group members, members of Open Source communities gathered at the Marriott Conference Centre in Hyderabad for the first joint keynote by Microsoft and Red Hat leadership. The event provided on site Microsoft Azure certifications and Hands on Lab options as well as an innovation showcase at the Tech Garage for MVPs and other community influencers.

One of the key achievements of this event was 10 Open Hack solutions which will contribute to the Government of India’s Digital India initiative. Microsoft India has committed to support these solutions and the bright minds behind them by aligning BizSpark and other local startup support campaigns.

In this event, the community also released the first preview of the MVP Rockstarz game which will soon be available through all major stores.
