"Atlas" 1.0 Naming and Roadmap

In ScottGu's Blog, he has just posted datails realated to Atlas naming and release roadmap.

A quick summary :

  • Goal is to ship the “Atlas” 1.0 release around the end of this year (Includes a Beta, then an RC before final release)
  • Will work with VS 2005
  • delivering a “core” set of fully supported functionality
  • Atlas” will now have a few names:
    1. The client-side “Atlas” javascript library is going to be called the Microsoft AJAX Library.
    2. The server-side “Atlas” functionality that nicely integrates with ASP.NET will be called the ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions
    3. The “Atlas” Control Toolkit will change to be the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit.
