Have you heard? There's an app contest going on and you're invited! App contest? That's right!

Vivek Narasimhan, Product Marketing Manager for Office and SharePoint, recently announced the app contest in the official Apps for Office and SharePoint Blog.

The app contest is open to developers who have a great idea for an app for Office or an app for SharePoint. Prizes include $10,000 cash, Xbox + Kinect, and other Microsoft hardware. To participate, submit your entry by 12/20/2012.

If you have ideas, but need some guidance about apps, learn more about building apps at dev.office.com. Also, download some helpful apps for Office and SharePoint samples.

Tip: You don't need to install SharePoint or Visual Studio to start building apps. Start developing now by signing up for an Office 365 Developer Site and installing the "Napa" Office 365 Development Tools!
