INVITATION Upgrade Cycle for SharePoint 2010 Dear Partner, Microsoft Technical Pre-Sales and Advisory Services has the pleasure to announce these 4 web seminars that, taken together, provides you with an understanding of the upgrade cycle that you have to do for SharePoint 2010. Introduction This Partner Readiness Web Seminar is a Microsoft Partner Network and Partner Technical Services initiative. The purpose of this program is to educate our partners about the value of Microsoft's solutions so that our partners can increase product awareness and thereby create new opportunities that increase customer satisfaction. Do you want to know more about the upgrade cycle for SharePoint? The objectives here are we're going to go through the prerequisites and the upgrade paths, talk about the different databases that are upgradeable, methods we might look at with those. And then we're going to hopefully help you make the decision around what the correct upgrade method might be for you. And finally, we'll kind of harp on those nice improvements we've gotten in the upgrade stack to make this a much more enjoyable experience for you. There will be shown small demos throughout the 4 webinars. Part 1. Learn – SharePoint 2010 Upgrade Overview Date and time: 15 February 2012 – 09:00 to 11:00 Description: We are going to look at the upgrade as a cycle, this means that we are going to try and get into the requirements, the prerequisites, the other upgrade methods that you need to learn about so you know what´s on the table for you. Agenda: • Requirements/supported upgrade paths • Databases/SSP changes • Upgrade methods • Downtime mitigation • Visual upgrade • Upgrade improvements Part 2. Prepare – Preparing to Upgrade to SharePoint 2010 Date and time: 15 February 2012 - 11:00 to 12:30 Description: we will talk about preparing your environment, getting things in a good place, really figuring out what you have so that you can start to look at doing the test, which is our third section. In the test phase we're going to really harp on you to test this. Upgrade is predictable and reliable, so we can make the same passes multiple times in the test phase, and once we get consistent results there, we'll be able to do that when we go to the implement stage. Agenda: • Tools for inventory • Audit customizations • Looking at data and customization upgradability Part 3. Implement –Testing Upgraded SharePoint 2010 Solutions Date and time: 15 February 2012 – 13:30 to 14:30 Description: In implement we're going to look at actually building production farms and doing the upgrade pass so that your data is live. Agenda: • Understand the setup process • Learn how to deploy customization • Learn how to upgrade SSP and Mysites Part 4. Validate – Testing Upgraded SharePoint 2010 Solutions Date and time: 15 February 2012 – 14:30 to 15:30 Description: And then finally, at the end we're going to talk about validating, both validating your new content and the results of the upgrade, but also working a little bit with the users to make sure that they're on board with the new features in SharePoint 2010.
