How to disable an Internet Explorer Add On

An Add On runs in the the same memory as Internet Explorer and is often the cause of a crash.  In order to fix the problem, you need to contact the company that makes the Add On.  If you want to stop Internet Explorer from crashing because of it, you can disable it and re-enable it when you really need it.  Here are some simple instructions on how to disable an Internet Explorer Add On.

  1. Start Internet Explorer the way that you usually start it.
  2. On the Tools menu, point to Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons. The Manage Add-ons dialog box opens.
  3. In the Show box, click Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer.
  4. Under Name, click on the add-on in the list, and then under Settings, click Disable.
  5. Close Internet Explorer and restart it.
