Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5 ship today

Well you can read all about it on Soma's blog -- today is the day!

I'm really proud of the work we did in this release and I'm especially proud of that performance work -- great results in many areas with Linq and VB taking top honors from me on really getting the perf out.  But those are just my personal favorites -- what could I say in just a few words about a product that's so expansive? There's just so much to see!

Get it, explore, and enjoy!

Hi Mr. Mariani, I would like to have you recommend a few good books about performance optimizations for those fluent in C# (3.0) and CIL. Books that feature implementations of algorithms that outperform any naive approaches unexperienced programmers might come up with would also be great. Best Regards, Cetin Sert

Oh, there goes the weekend, kudos for shipping. Is there anything in there for us performance engineer readers of your blog ? You talked about signing methods with performance information in the past?

How about making the WPF designer a bit more performant? :)

The WPF designer leaves something to be desired, true, but all in all it feels faster and more responsive than 2005 ever did. Oh, and the LINQ stuff is amazing.
