Lync Client 2013 – Disable Customer Experience Improvement Program

We recently received a request from a customer asking if we could completely disable the CEIP and Lync Improvement Program options within the Lync 2013 Client. Although this can be done it is not recommended due to the fact of how much these programs help the product. But if required here are the registry keys to accomplish this task and the result view in the client for these options.

“Sign up for the Customer Experience Improvement Program”

The following registry entry will deselect this option and if made in the policy key as shown here, will prevent the user from changing the selection:

Key: HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common

Value: Name = qmenable, Type = DWORD, Value Data = 0

“Automatically send Lync Improvement Program info to Microsoft”

For this option set EnableSQMData to False in CsClientPolicy.

Kudos to Carolyn B. (PFE) for this information.
