RMS SDK 4.0 Preview Release for iOS, OS X and Android

Hello Folks,

We have some fantastic news to share with you..The RMS developer platform team has been really busy taking all your feedback and requirements and working on the cool new SDK 4.0. Yair from our team will provide you the details..

Hi Everyone,

We are proud to announce the next generation of RMS SDK for mobile devices and Mac (OS X)!

RMS SDK 3.0 was a giant leap for Microsoft RMS. We, for the first time shipped thin REST-based SDKs for multiple platforms including Windows RT, Windows Phone, Mac, iOS and Android.. The new and powerful SDK 4.0 adds new features and capabilities and provides you all the control and flexibility that you need to build the most amazing apps using Microsoft Rights Management services.

What's new in SDK v4.0?

  • AD RMS support - IT admins can use RMS enabled applications on mobile devices with the new AD RMS server's mobile device extensions. NOTE: If you receive an error, you haven’t registered on Microsoft Connect. To register: go to www.connect.microsoft.com, sign in with your Microsoft Account > Directory> Search for Rights Management Services > Join.

  • Offline Consumption - end-users can access RMS protected data offline.

  • Segregated Auth - developers can use their own authentication library for Azure RMS and AD RMS (or use the recommended ADAL auth library).

  • Segregated UI - developers can build their user interface to protect and consume RMS protected documents.

  • Re-designed API - developers can now enjoy simple and transparent encryption and decryption API, which provides consistent RMS behaviors and user experience, in minimum efforts.

To give our SDK 4.0 preview a try, go to https://connect.microsoft.com/site1170/Downloads/DownloadDetails.aspx?DownloadID=53370 and download the package. Today, we are shipping the preview bits for iOS, OS X and Android. Very soon, we will also ship the preview package of our SDK for Windows RT and Windows Phone as well.

NOTE: If you receive an error, you haven’t registered on Microsoft Connect. To register: go to www.connect.microsoft.com, sign in with your Microsoft Account > Directory> Search for Rights Management Services > Join.

Enjoy them and let us know about your experience.

Cheers,

Yair Cohen on behalf of RMS team
