Blogging with a voice recorder

I came across an interesting blog this weekend. I've seen it once before, but now that I've seen it twice, I just have to comment on it... :-) Blogging with a voice recorder appears to be a blog about using speech recognition and a digital audio recorder (DAR) to record your voice and then translate it into a blog posting.

It's quite an interesting idea.

I've thought about doing that myself, but I've never given it a stab... yet. Windows Vista has integrated speech recognition and it should allow for a creative third party ISV to build just such a cool blogging tool.

One of the problems, though, is that Speech Recognition isn't perfect. Even with 99% accuracy It does make mistakes from time to time. On a long blog posting, 1% of the words being wrong could be a problem. So ... The coolest approach to solving this problem might be one that focuses on the correction facilities.

A tool could probably be written in just under a few days to support a simple version of transcription from a DAR and convert that into text. Maybe I should write that utility and post it up here on my blog in the future. What do you think?
