SpeechTEK is only 1 week away!

SpeechTEK is a twice a year gathering for anyone, and everyone, in the speech industry to get together and discuss the state of the art in speech recognition systems and speech synthesis systems and the impact they're having on the world.

This year, I'm going along with the Microsoft crowd to demonstrate Windows Speech Recognition in Windows Vista. It should be an exciting time!

We'll have a presence on the show floor showing several offerings from Microsoft, both for the telephony market, as well as for the desktop market.

Rich Bray, General Manager for Microsoft Speech Server, is giving the keynote speech on Tuesday, August 8th. As part of that, I'll also get to do a live demo in front of the whole crowd at SpeechTEK.

7 days and counting...

I suppose I should start getting my laptop ready -- you think? :-)

I'll be running either build 547x (a very recent build), or 5384 (the Beta 2 build). Speech works pretty well in both builds, so it's a bit of a coin toss between the two. I'm installing both builds tonight on my laptop and I'll run through the demo a couple times on both systems to see which one feels better.

I've demo'd speech to much larger crowds, so I'm not nervous.

It'll be a blast getting the real truth out to customers, partners, and the press on how well Windows Speech Recognition really works.
