Have Small Business Server 2011 Standard with Volume Licensing, and want to download the media?
[Today’s post comes to us courtesy of Michael Leworthy from Windows Server Marketing]
Due to the size of the SBS 2011 Standard media (6.5Gb), downloading is not available on the VLSC (Volume Licensing Service Center), and is supported via media order only.
However, we have a dedicated large file download system partnering with Akamai to support our SBS 2011 Standard Evaluations. The great news is you can easily convert this evaluation version to a licensed version using Windows Activation.
Here is what you need to do if you want immediate access to SBS 2011 Standard through download and are a VLSC customer.
1. Download the SBS 2011 Evaluation through the CARE system
2. Install the evaluation onto your target server
3. Logon on your VLSC account, and access your SBS 2011 Standard MAK key
4. Click the Start menu on the server desktop, right click Computer, choose Properties, and then click the link under Windows Activation.
5. Click Activate Windows online now, type your MAK product key, click Next, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
You now have a fully registered version of SBS 2011 Standard.

Or you can download it via the TechNet site if you have a valid TechNet subscription, install it and use the key from VLSC.Anonymous

So for those of us with volume licensing and the premium add-on, where do we get the 2nd server installation with Server 2008 R2? SQL server is available, but the server installation itself seems missing.Anonymous

Volume License customers who have purchased the premium add on licenses will notice that they have the ability to download the premium add on parts on the VLSC. Both Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 products are availible. Between the trial download and the premium add on downloads from VLSC, a media kit isnt absolutely required. I do suggest getting one however since its free to SBS 2011 customers. Also, when ordering media, only the SBS 2011 Std kit is sent free - they ask you to download the premium add ons from VLSC anyhow. You can ask to have the prem add on items on physical media, but there will be a charge.Anonymous

Download the SBS 2011 Evaluation - But it does not appear to be there making the whole article a waste of time or click farming for Microsoft and you wonder why people are starting to dislike Microsoft so much
