Google... I'm really feeling lucky today :)

Long long ago... when people tried "Failure" in the search box and tried their luck (I'm Feeling lucky), they were directed to President Bush related website... How obvious!!!
And they say... history repeats... and here is another proof...

Try "Search" in the searchbox and try your luck. I'm sure you'll Live with the result.

It seems Google... is now feeling the heat... Long LIVE.
Not sure how many days this will survive... So guys try this... fast

Google's competitors have always ranked higher when you query for <search> or <search engine > related stuff. If you try the following web queries, see what is listed first in the results page: search/"search" --> msn [google comes 3rd] web search --> yahoo [google comes 3rd] search engine --> alta vista [google comes 2nd] Naturally hitting I'm feeling lucky will take you to the page with the highest PR More on PR: http://www.google.com/technology/

Which means... according to Google, LIVE has the highest PR for www.live.com, which goes on to prove that Microsoft Windows Live search is better than Google (if I can infer that, or atleast if that is what they think???)

I think Microsoft is making better use of the PR technology to rank higher in Google than Google. ;)

In the technology link above, they claim that the page rank cannot be manipulated and its based on the page quality and not based on the number of links to that page... So this ends up with two things...

  1. Either the Page is indeed of the highest quality (which it is...)
  2. There is a bug in the PageRank algorithm and that was used to the benefit by Microsoft developers ;) you can pick anything you wish, but I'd prefer the first one
