Today is Data Privacy Day

Held annually on January 28th, the day aims to increase awareness of privacy and data protection issues among consumers, organisations, and government officials. Data Privacy Day (DPD) has become one of the main focal points for industry, academia, and advocates to highlight consumer privacy efforts.

Microsoft commissioned research in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, the United States, and Canada, and found that 51 percent of respondents had used location based services. Of those, 94 percent noted location based services were valuable. Still, 52 percent said they were concerned about potential loss of privacy.
