Audit and Control Management Server 2013 - "The specified executable is not a valid application for this OS platform" error

You may receive the following error when trying to compare values between two versions using the differencing tool when clicking on a value on the Change History Details page in a Microsoft Audit and Control Management Server 2013 site:

Error Starting Difference Tool: The specified executable is not a valid application for this OS platform.

This error occurs when trying to compare values from a Windows XP client machine. The Microsoft Differencing Smart Client tool used to compare the values is not supported on Windows XP.

To resolve the issue, compare the values by using the tool on a Windows 7 machine or later. Below is a screenshot showing the link that starts the tool on the Change History Details page in Internet Explorer:

Clicking on the Old Value or New Value as highlighted in yellow above starts the differencing tool to compare the two values.
