Integrate Reporting Services into SharePoint 2016

With the recent release of SharePoint Server 2016 Beta 2, we're happy to announce that SQL Server 2016 CTP 3.1 enables you to integrate SQL Server business intelligence and reporting into SharePoint 2016 and we've published a whitepaper to help you get up and running.

SharePoint-integrated mode for SharePoint 2013 and 2016

With SQL Server 2016 as with previous releases, you can choose to deploy Reporting Services in one of two modes: Native mode, a standalone deployment that doesn't require SharePoint; and SharePoint-integrated mode, which integrates deeply into SharePoint. You'll find several of the new Reporting Services features - including Treemaps and Sunburst charts, the new HTML renderer, plugin-free printing, and export to PowerPoint - in SharePoint-integrated mode as well.

With CTP 3.1, SharePoint-integrated mode now supports both SharePoint 2013 and 2016 (Beta 2) .

SharePoint 2016 introduces some changes to SharePoint's architecture and integration with other services, most notably Excel Online, which supersedes Excel Services. You'll want to understand this architecture and how to deploy and integrate the various servers and components, particularly if you're interested in deploying other BI features such as PowerPivot and Power View, which work with Excel Online.
