I checked in with a few pals in Redmond yesterday and we talked cloud – not the weather but cloud computing. Turns out it’s a busy ‘ol week for the great and the good of Redmond when it comes to discussing the cloud.
Right now, Ray Ozzie is having a fireside chat at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. I expect Ray will talk about cloud computing and the future of technology so it should be worth tuning in to as the session is being webcast live. I’m hoping he touches on the 3 screens and a cloud meme that I’ll post more about soon. I’m also looking forward to seeing Steven Levy who did the big profile on Ray recently in Wired talk to Ray at The Churchill Club on June 4th on The Potential of Cloud Computing
Amitabh Srivastava, our senior vice president of Windows Azure is a busy man had a fireside chat himself last night at Enterprise Cloud Summit @Interop discuss Microsoft’s approach to cloud computing and our enterprise cloud strategy. I’m trying to track down his session but not much on their site just yet. Amitabh has hot footed it from there to Future in Review (FiRe) 2009 where he’ll talk similar stuff alongside folks from Amazon and Cisco (11am PST)
Ron Markezich who drives much of our MS Online work, is at the MIT Sloan CIO Symposium later today in Cambridge, MA on a panel about cloud computing.
Finally, Chris Capossela is giving a keynote at Forrester’s IT Forum 2009 in Vegas tomorrow titled Uncovering Value In The Cloud And On Your Desktop
So by the end of the week we should have a pretty good view of how “the cloud” is viewed across Microsoft and then we’ll top it off with Levy and Ozzie in early June.
