Build Silverlight Apps in Eclipse

Microsoft’s Growth and Innovation Day in Brussels last week was a real injection of new ideas for me. One of those was helping people see the work Microsoft does in Europe. Another was helping demonstrate that Microsoft’s interoperability ambitions are more than just ambitions – they’re reality.

I read a post today on Infoworld that brought these two things together. Paul Krill referenced a blog post from S. Somasegar at Microsoft explaining that Eclipse users can now create Silverlight applications thanks to a plugin developed by Soyatec, a France-based Eclipse Foundation member. Microsoft funded the project and I think it’s great to see innovation in Europe and Microsoft supporting the Eclipse community.

As Soma says, Eclipse4SL is being released under the Eclipse Public License Version 1.0 on SourceForge, and has submitted it to the Eclipse Foundation as an open Eclipse project.
