Jim Allchin was evangelizing to the dev community a couple of weeks back about getting ready to ride the Vista wave:
"If you want to ride the wave we're creating with Windows Vista, the best way is to have your application ready by the time we ship,"
If you're a developer in the UK and a Microsoft Partner, we have a 2 day course for you to get up to speed. Come on, show us your dev skills. I neeeed more gadgets :)

I wonder what's meant by "riding the vista wave" as i've seen a lot of complaints from developers about vista and visual studio : http://www.theserverside.net/news/thread.tss?thread_id=42426 VS2003 and 2003 won't be supported on Vista, and VS2005 is still full of bugs and waiting on SP1. Even then : "Visual Studio 2005 SP1 will run on Vista but will likely have a few compatibility issues" Gunther www.integr8.beAnonymous

Gunther, VS2003 and VS2005 are NOT the only developer environments with which you can write Windows applications. You can create wonderful (and most probably VISTA compatible) apps with Delphi and C++Builder (aka BDS2006).Anonymous

Are the Visual Studio development team going to be attending this course? If they can't get their software to work on Vista, what hope for anyone else?Anonymous

guys, my advice would be to come along and tell us if it meets your needs or doesn't. that's the best way we can learn and provide you with what you need. can't comment on the dev questions myself as the best i could do was C on a Mac at University 13 years ago!Anonymous

Hey folks, you're developers so I won't bore you with the marketing stuff. VS 2005 does run on Vista. SP1 simply removes a security warning that you get when you run it on Vista. A good FAQ on the VS 2003/VS 2005SP1 stuff: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/support/windowsvista/faq/ Let me know if Q's...Anonymous
