Fine and Warm

I presented in the room next to this sign today and I’m still baffled as to what it’s all about. The weather I assume…the national pasttime

It’s on show at  the Cabinet War Rooms in Westminster where I was invited to present at an SCC event on Vista, Office and Sharepoint. I made good use of the recent presentation Bill gave at the CEO summit where he coined the phrase “The Last Mile of Productivity” which I actually quite like. It captures well the challenges we face in information overload. I also noticed in Bill’s deck from that event that he mentions Channel 9 under the title of Revolutionizing Media and also mentions blogs and WiKi’s. It’s great to see this stuff getting Bill level attention and him making other CEO’s aware of it.

Back to the war room – very cool venue and I’m now likely to go back as a pukka tourist type as there is some very cool stuff in there. I did have the PTS-TV camera with me though avoided interviewing tourists today :)

Overall the session went well and I was relieved when my new Acer worked with the projector ;) People seem to like what we’re doing with search in Vista and I couldn’t live without it already. Other presenters included Bird and Bird (legal types) and Symanetc talking about archiving which was all quite interesting but by lunch I figured the crowd was ready for demos so did minimal slides and plenty of demo…most of which worked. Phew.

My parting comment: if you can’t install Vista and/or Office 2007 betas then try out Windows Desktop Search (if your business allows) as it’s a good insight in to what’s coming.
