I meant to mention this a while back but I was recently voted on the executive here in the UK. BIMA is the British Interactive Media Association. Who?
BIMA is the industry association representing the interactive media and digital content sector. It supports individuals and organisations which deliver high quality, creative and innovative, interactive media solutions. It strives to stimulate commercial growth, and acts as an industry liaison with academia and government through the provision of knowledge, encouragement and economy; BIMA is a united voice for its members and strives to develop an internationally competitive new media industry in Britain.
Given Microsoft's emergence in the world of digital media it's a timely move and I hope mutually beneficial - we can learn from the organisation and it's members and we can contribute to helping Britain remain at the forefront of the digital, creative industries.
So I'm now a "director" albeit not at Microsoft :) thanks to those who voted and I'm looking forward to a fun year...next up, the BIMA 2007 Awards
