Microsoft invades The Beach

I'm really quite excited about our Expression range of products as we're entering an arena where we're clearly the underdog and that's often when we do our best work (see Wired 14.10 to see who else agrees).

The Web Developer community is one that we perhaps haven't served too well over the years but that's about to change and there is a strong team across the Microsoft UK partner and Developer groups amassing to take this story out. Most recently, they were in Brighton at Flash on the Beach and FlashMagazine gives a pretty good review of the event.

Microsoft's presence in Brighton is pretty impressive. They are far more visible than Adobe

To be fair, we have to be as it's their party and we're coming in talking about our new stuff to a bunch of people who are largely Adobe focused. Jens gives a very balanced view of things and talks about the demos Jon delivered on the day.I'll leave you go judge yourself rather than paraphrase here.

I think this is one of the most interesting areas we're working on at the moment and there is plenty to learn from outside but also inside the company. It's no coincidence that the booth at the event showed off things like XBOX, Photosynth and more. Oh and if you haven't seen the Microbe demo check it out as it shows Flash and WPF/E in the same browser seamlessly.

As I've said, we have a lot of work to do here but slowly but surely we're making progress and the developer community seems genuinely interested....even if our stuff doesn't run on Mac :)
