Simple Reminders = Brand Awareness

There have been many posts about Microsoft’s Live brand and the relative lack of knowledge of it and Live Search in particular. We can debate all day about the merits or otherwise of the brand but it’s Sunday and the sun is out so lets not. When I saw this simple brand awareness approach from Amazon though I thought it was the kind of thing we should be doing. If we want to brand to be seen as innovative we have to be doing innovative (and ideally simple) stuff like this grocery list notepad.

How about doing a deal with BP petrol stations to give away city maps sponsored by Live Maps or school notepad/legal pads at the height of student exam time with Live Search on ‘em?

Hat tip to Andy Sernovitz for the inspiration

send me one thing Andy - your snail mail address. I'm gonna build you a swag bag :) gives me a thought for another plan....a way to share all the MSFT "stuff" I've collected over the years. some quite collectable too!

Nice idea. It's kind of the way things used to be done in marketing before everyone got all complicated and too clever for their own good. So yes this makes perfect sense to me. Now we just need to do something about it instead of just saying "yes this makes perfect sense to me..." and stopping there.
