You may not think it if you know me but design is a big passion of mine. I like graphic design and often use the work of Peter Saville as my image on IM. I recently became a patron of the Design Museum in London which should give me a route to channel some of my inner designer :) I was over there last year to look at the Saville exhibition and the work of Jonathan Ive from Apple who won their designer of the year award. I may not be a big fan of the Tiger OS but it’s hard not to get sucked in to the Apple shop on Regent Street just to look at their hardware candy :)
Reason I bring it up though? I was at the UK Partner Community Day yesterday and sat through many of the sessions. There were some great slides (and some not so great slides) but one thing that really irks me if when a slide has about 4 differents fonts on it. Maybe it’s just me being picky but I think it makes it harder to read and show a lack of attention to detail. If you EVER see my slides with screwed up fonts like this, feel free to shoot me. Oh and I love the new fonts in Office/Vista. I mentioned. You can read much more about this stuff at Poynter.
Having got that off my chest, I’m pleased to say we got some cool videos from the event both the night before at rehearsal (yep, believe it or not we rehearse!) and during the day. Expect to see them posted as guest videos on PTS-TV soon.
