A few other folks have already blogged about this so I'll keep it short :) It's a new website focused on providing practical guidance for developers working with small businesses. Research showed that developers in this arena had the following pain points that need addressing.
- Drowning in complexity – our professional and enterprise focus is too high a barrier-to-entry for very small projects
- Have no time to learn – learning is done through on-the-job research, online materials, self paced study and examples
- Good enough, really is good enough – well architected systems are nice but not necessary
To address these needs, our MSDN folks designed a web site based around the top tasks that these developers were faced with regularly:
- integrating data between systems,
- building reports,
- building small web and windows LOB applications.
They also added a deployment section to help show how to get the finished solution published. Pretty cool and very clean and easy site is the result.
