Startups Live: Bristol

L1000709

I was in Bristol tonight presenting at Startups Live - a UK event aimed at small businesses in the UK and sponsored by Microsoft, NatWest & Vodafone. It was great to hear from Rachel Elnaugh of Dragons Den fame who spoke before me and James Murray-Wells, the found of Glassesdirect.co.uk

I gave a short talk on "Marketing and Selling Using Online to Reach Your Customers" which seemed to go down quite well. Lots of questions anyway and a gasp or two when I mentioned Google :) Here are some link to stuff I referenced and Rachel's entrepreneur test

I'll post the slides to slideshare tomorrow but if you were there, I hope you enjoyed it and if I didn't get to chat with you at the end my apologies - feel free to comment here and I'll come back to you with any questions of feedback you may have. I'd love to know what people though of the presentation as I was worried it rushed through things a bit.

Hi steve, i attended startups live last night and thought of the whole event it was VERY good. The humour and relaxed attitude you in particular presented your talk with was fantastic, very easy listening; i didn't find myself "switching off" and thinking of coronation street !!!!! It must have stuck in my mind because i've found your site ! I had lots of questions to ask but unfortunatley didn't have time to speak afterwards, what it's like to be popular ! :)

Steve, I also thought last night was a great event all round. I have a question for you - what do you think of the affiliate model from a business opportunity and enterprise perspective? Is this the C21st equivalent of opening a corner shop or being a reseller? You may know some places you can sign-post. Cheers.

Mark - apologies for tardy response. Not sure quite what you mean by the affiliate model in this context. can you explain some more? Steve
