This magazine has an awful lot to answer for - and it's all good. Back when I was at University at Loughborough in 1991ish I walked in to the student union shop and saw a magazine that stood out from the rest. It had a plain white cover with the words Wired embossed on it in a shadow style effect. Upon closer inspection it had the word Wired embossed in braille on the cover. That attention to detail alone warranted me to pick it up and leaf through. Within 30 seconds I was hooked by the radical design of the magazine, the content and the images. It's what I'd always wanted in a technology magazine and it was everything .Net Magazine at the time wasn't. It was bleeding edge and funky. It was the price of a few student meals but I still whacked out the cash and strode off safe in the knowledge that I had a piece of literary brilliance in my hand. I became a subscriber to the US version then then UK version (short lived sadly) and then had a year off when they went all biotech wonky. The last 3 years has seen them back on track though and it continues to be a must read for me. I still have that original version in a pile of magazines somewhere along with a few other covers of their I loved. Here are just a few I liked...
Congrats on the new face guys and keep up the amazing work. You brought me technology the way I wanted it back then and led me down this path.

agree with you there Ron - i think it's why i liked that b/w issue so much. the entire mag was b/w to show they could co content over colour. lets hope that new paper is as good as it sounds! SteveAnonymous
