Vista Sidebar Gadget resources

I've had a few people ask about this recently and seen a fair bit of traffic to my blog posting on gadgets vs. widgets so thought people may appreciate this great post from Richard at Conchango who has a great laundry list of resources to help you go build them.

Onward friends...let the gadgets rain down!

Hi Steve, It seems like there would be more Gadget development if Microsoft had chosen to use one of their own languages, such as .NET or VB script, rather than Javascript.  By making such a choice Microsoft has eliminated much of their own developer community who chose to learn the Microsoft languages rather than the competitors languages. Thanks Tom

My thoughts exactly. Here is a company that pushes all these new scripts and languages. But chooses JavaScript? Ohhh I see it works on all browsers. Ohh cares than make JavaScript an option if you want to run on all browsers if not then use C#, VBScript, or Come up with something new? Does the Vista Side Bar use Netscape, no! When all this Gadet & Widget stuff came out I was excided then dropped it like a lead balloon because there is no language support other than javascript.
