Apart from Live Mesh, Windows Live Writer is my favourite Microsoft product in the last 5 years. It’s stunningly good at what it does with some elegant touches such as its support for drop shadows on images, its plugin architecture and built in spell checking. The fact that it works with all blogging platforms and makes blogging as simple as word processing makes is stand apart from any other editor I have used. Oh and its free.
There are some new treats coming down the line from the Writer team but in the meantime they have created a series of short instructional videos for Writer. The one above is all of videos in one longer video. The other 4 can be found on Soapbox and YouTube.
