YouTubeDesktop embraces Software + Services

I thought it was pretty cool to see an application go in to beta that connects with one of the darlings (and stars) of Web 2.0

I think it's a great example that helps explain what Software + Services is all about. Last 100 has their hands on the beta of YouTubeDesktop.com which is explained by the developers as follows

"YouTube Desktop provides a more convenient and easier way of browsing through the enormous amount of content available on YouTube"

To be fair they're bound to say that but it'll be interesting to see the coverage and uptake. Last 100 seems impressed so far and I signed up for the beta so lets hope I can report back soon. I expect we'll see more of this type of application as people want more control over manipulating their data in the sky.
